Merkel of all people does know how dangerous nuclear power is (something like that one just cant forget, if once learned. I mean - I've studied the first two semester physics too, it's basic stuff. It can't just slipped out of you mind, unless you're repressing it on purpose.)- then again, she should also know, how miserable is the chance, that there'll be a tsunami and earthquake and a volcanic eruption here in Germany.
But I agree, the people are a bit.. in shock? Sure, green energy is the future (at least if we want to have a future) but we shouldn't rush and start some sort of a new witch-hunt.
Thomas Mann's books are great for film adaptation though ;) Also, I'm a big fan of his older brother - Heinrich Mann. As a teenager I totally loved his novels about King Henri IV ^__^
